As some clinics cease offering this service or employ assistants, we are proud to offer a comprehensive podiatry led service, that covers a full scope of practice.

Nail Surgery

Ingrowing or thickened toe nails can be partially or fully removed under local anaesthetic. We will normally assess the nail at an initial visit before any surgery takes place. This will cover current protocols, your history, health, circulation and fully explain the procedure; taking into account benefits and risks.

Orthotics

We use footbionics orthotic insoles and adapt them to the individuals need. These locally made devices offer a good balance of quality, quick wear in times and different models to suit certain conditions or body types. We also offer casted devices for those who require more specialised, thinner or harder orthotics.

Footwear

We now stock a small range of footwear, slippers and accessories in our Avonhead Clinic. From comfortable sandals, recovery slides, lightweight walking shoes or smart leather shoes, we have a small specially curated selection. If you need a some expert help, we advise coming on a Monday or Friday, when a podiatrist is available to help.

All instruments used in our practice go through a rigorous multi-step reprocessing cycle that meets AS5369:2023 - the Australian and New Zealand standard for instrument cleaning and sterilisation in office-based healthcare. This includes:
✅ Pre-cleaning and disinfection immediately after use✅ Ultrasonic cleaning to remove microscopic debris✅ Vacuum autoclave sterilisation at high temperatures✅ Individually sealed pouches, only opened at the time of treatment✅ Batch tracking and traceability for every set of instruments used

Not All Foot Care is the Same

Disinfection is not Sterilisation - Demand the Safest You may see other providers offering foot and nail care outside of a regulated healthcare setting. These individuals are often not trained to the same clinical standards as podiatrists and are not subject to the same hygiene, safety, or ongoing education requirements.
Many unregulated providers rely on cold chemical disinfection rather than the entire process of disinfection, ultrasonic cleaning and high temperature autoclave sterilisation. This is a concern when treating with semi-critical and critical instruments: such as those that penetrate or come into contact with soft tissue; where sterilisation, not just disinfection, is required by health standards.
Unfortunately, these shortcuts increase the risk of infection, cross-contamination, and unsafe outcomes - especially for vulnerable patients.
