Work shoes for long shifts on hard floors.
For healthcare staff, hospitality workers and anyone on their feet all day in Christchurch.
If you spend eight to twelve hours on hospital lino, commercial kitchens, retail floors or concrete, the issue often isn’t just comfort. It’s load.
While softer, lighter footwear can seem appealing, prolonged time on unforgiving floors often requires a little more stability, structure and underfoot support than cushioning alone can offer.
That’s why we keep a small, carefully selected range of structured work shoes available in our Christchurch clinic.
Every step places force through your feet. On hard surfaces, that force has nowhere to dissipate, and over time tissues are asked to tolerate more than they comfortably can. As podiatrists, we select footwear based on how it performs under real, sustained load — from long standing shifts to lighter office roles. This helps ensure you’re wearing the right level of structure for your day.
When that load exceeds what the foot can tolerate, pain appears. Footwear can’t remove load - but more structured footwear can distribute it more sensibly.
Selected for real working conditions
Because different jobs create different loads, we match out small, structured range suited to a variety of working environments. We group our footwear according to how much daily load they are designed to manage.
High Load – Long Shifts: For prolonged standing and physically demanding work.
Structured Comfort – Long Days: For those wanting rebound and cushioning without losing stability.
Office / Lower Load: For mixed sitting and standing roles.
We help match the shoe to your workday.
A Practical Approach to Work Footwear
At Solecare, we carry a small, carefully selected range of neutral, structured work shoes, covering the three types of load. • Stable through the midfoot and heel
• Deeper around the ankle for more support
• Included anatomical footbeds - firm or soft rebound• Designed for long hours on hard floors• Suitable for all-black workplace requirements - also in other colours for everyday active wear• Compatible with orthotics where needed
• Plain black uppers
• Not a safety shoe range
Structured, gentle support
For some people, the built-in footbed provides enough support on its own. For others, it can be removed to accommodate a custom orthotic without compromise. If you currently wear orthotics and they’re starting to feel tired or worn, we can assess and manufacture new custom devices here at the clinic if required.
The goal isn’t something flashy or over-engineered. It’s reducing unnecessary strain across a long shift.
